Due to the pressure of the Turkish Embassy in Poland, the exhibition entitled ”First Genocide of the 20th century” dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide has been moved from the center of Warsaw and is now being shown in the contemporary art museum. Warsaw authorities claim that the reason for moving the exhibition is becuase of the photos which could cause shock to the viewer. However, according to the Armenian Apostolic Church in Poland, the real reasons were the many letters and phone calls by the Turkish Embassy. The exhibition which opened on October 24th in the center of Warsaw presented 40 photos taken in 1915. The photos depicted cemeteries of Armenian soldiers who had been brothers, children’s skulls and executed people. Those photos had caused shock to the Polish and many of them didn’t even know about those tragic events. Last year, Poland could not stand the threats made by Turk diplomats and placed a monument in Krakov in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
