Grapes exchanged for certificates

03/11/2010

The process of buying grapes from villagers started two months ago, which embezzles villagers. Even though in the beginning they announced that they would pay minimum 120 drams for one kilo of grapes, many villagers had to give their grapes to companies for 40-50 drams. The problem is that the villagers who don’t have contracts with those companies, have to agree with the offered 40-50 drams, otherwise they will be able to give these grapes to their animals only and they can sell it nowhere else. This process is connected with politics too as the problem is that many villagers say that the points that are buying grapes for the wine and brandy company of Gagik Tsarukyan are demanding from them either to join the Prosperous Armenia party or at least to give them a name of their family members. A part of the villagers agree, the other part of them have to sell for 50 drams per kilo to the other villagers who are members of this party, so that they can resell for higher prices. Of course the PA will refute these rumors by saying that these are baseless gossips. It is not excluded that the youth of this party may organize a demonstration at the office of our newspaper like they did with another newspaper. In consideration of the importance of party building and lack of financial resources before the elections we are advising the new young leaders of this party to put on strong shoes before taking part in this demonstration because there is a big construction going on not far from our office.
