“The efforts some political circles are making to spread information that so-called “Pzo”, Armen Ghazaryan, arrested in the US for certain things has had some relations with high rank officials of our country,” said the former police chief and incumbent head of the plenipotentiary department of the Justice ministry Hayk Harutyunyan concerning the rumors that Pzo was in good relations with the authorities of Armenia. “I don’t want to comment on the behavior of such political circles and media companies and it is worth mentioning that A. Ghazaryan used to be in the focus of the attention of our police and was brought to the police together with several suspected people. Later he was set free as there were no grounds for persecuting him in Armenia,” he said and added that there is no surprise in this information because thieves-in-law and criminal authorities have always been in the focus of the attention of the police. “I am announcing with a full sense of responsibility that no high rank official has ever tried to mediate or ask for the release of Ghazaryan. Meanwhile, I want to say that the prime-minister of those times, Aram Sargsyan, has not instructed to arrest anybody,” said the former chief of the police.
