“What Medvedev did in South Caucasus is not something new but routine work,” said Aleksey Malashenko, expert of the Russian Carnegie Centre. “He visited Armenia and everything was perfect; he signed a military agreement and he explained that it does not concern Karabakh. Later he visited Azerbaijan and explained that Armenia has specific relations with Russia and these relations are not against Azerbaijan. And the conflict of Karabakh is a great opportunity for Azerbaijan to demonstrate that it can serve as a mediator. It is another issue whether it is good or bad,” he said. According to him, a situation has been originated from these processes, when it is impossible to force Russia out of this process. “What Medvedev did one more time came to prove the policy adopted by Russia, i.e. the notion of neither for us nor for you. And I think it corresponds with Russia’s interests in the region. Also it is worth mentioning that Russia’s firm policy is that there should not be war in the region. I think it will not happen. Today it is extremely dangerous to start a war,” announced the Russian famous expert.
