Today the UN General Assembly will launch the discussion of the resolution on “Occupied territories and humanitarian rights,” submitted by Azerbaijan. It will most probably be adopted. At any rate, even the Armenian authorities if not officially then at least at semi-official and expert-level confess that there is nothing the Armenian government can do to preclude the resolution of this anti-Armenian resolution in the UN and mostly rely on the consciousness and wisdom of the delegate states. And this is done as a result of not the oil dollars of Azerbaijan, as our government likes to say for justification, but due to the consistent efforts of the Azerbaijani diplomatic mission. And what role does Armenia play to withstand that? “The OCSE Minsk Group is the best withstanding group to this resolution and is the most efficient format of resolution of the NKR conflict and the move of the matter to other structures will harm the negotiation process and the progress achieved so far.” Of course, it is so but the impression is that that this allegation is justified only for the Armenian side. Even the OCSE Minsk group co-chairs, who the Armenian so much relies on, yesterday made a statement, according to which next week they’re going to leave for New York next week in order to conduct consultations with the parties regarding the mentioned resolution. It means that even the Minsk Group co-chairs consider this resolution almost adopted. But it is more worrisome that according to the same statement of yesterday in late September or early October the co-chairs are going to return to the region and are planning to visit the liberated territories to discuss the control of the humanitarian situation in the region and to hold a discussion on the agreed directions. Moreover, during that mission the co-chairs will be accompanies by a high-level group of MPs and experts, including representatives from the UN’s special envoy group. It means that almost officially it is admitted that the UN is going to be involved in the process of the NKR conflict resolution, which combines all the rest of the negative consequences for us.
