The 16th general meeting of the ANM on Saturday brought several new changes in the political life of Armenia. However, these changes have not been fully analyzed since the general meeting yet. First, these changes mean that it was a revolution within the ANM, which has a history of 20 years and was one of the founders of the Republic of Armenia. The newly elected board of the ANM does not almost have any relation to the initial team that founded this party. This means that since getting the power and the change of the power this political party that differs from the other parties is dissolving in the political system of the country. The next rapid change is the change of the policy of the ANM, which is the main opposition power of Armenia. The political meaning of Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s speech seems to be aimed at the government to make them understand that at least in relation to the issue of Karabakh conflict settlement they should not expect any obstacles from them. In the past Levon Ter-Petrosyan used to say that in case of war the ANC would stop the public actions and would call on its supporters to protect the borders, but now he says almost directly that war is a threat that the ANC will not oppose to the government to the war’s alternative, i.e. compromises on their part. If the government is really going to make the compromise that is spoken to be done in the last phase of the conflict settlement talks, the government cannot find any stronger support in the country, even it has not happened in the history of Armenia starting from the times of Yeghiazar Ayntapetsi. In other words, the general meeting of this party can be considered a serious change in the political life of the country. The opposition that Serzh Sargsyan’s power used to have since February 19, 2008, has topped existing anymore. Now in Armenia there is a government, governmental political powers, fake opposition powers that are serving them and the Armenian National Congress. It is up to you to decide how the ANC can be classified among the mentioned political powers.
