Today in the conference hall of the government the congress of the Armenian National Movement will take place. Although formally the congress is a regular one but with its contents and in the aspect of the events, which took place within the ANM during the recent period, the congress may be considered extraordinary. Let us remember that everything started (or was publicized) when the deputy-chair of the ANM board Ararat Zurabyan resigned. Despite this in the further period various comments and interpretations were heard in this regard. But this issue didn’t move to the field of political debate. At least Kokobelyan stipulated his resignation with the specificity of the political course of the Armenian National Congress and with his intention to replace the indefinite policy with a more concrete and decisive course… The management of the Congress and more concretely the first Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrosyan haven’t responded to this so far. With his silence Ter-Petrosyan allowed or encouraged this political issue to become a common issue of political gossip and fret. And the most important question, which should be heard during today’s congress, is whether the ANM will continue its current passive political course within the ANC or will become more decisive and active. The alternative of the vagueness is not the rallies or demonstrations as many of the ANC activists think. The answer to this and other questions will be received either from honorary delegate of the congress Levon Ter-Petrosyan or from the new composition of the ANM board. By the way, recently information was publicized in the media about the letter of Vano Siradeghyan addressed to Ararat Zurabyan. From the to-be elected composition of the ANM board it will become clear whether this party will remain loyal to Vano Siradeghyan or whether Ter-Petrosyan will succeed in making the ANM one of the regular parties of the ANC, which will always be ready to fulfill “tremendous” actions in the Northern Avenue or in the vicinity of Saryan’s statue.
