On April 6 the regular rally of the Armenian National Congress will take place near the Matenadaran, which will be followed by a march. The city council of Yerevan permitted both the rally and the march despite the fact that the ANC had decided to hold the rally even without the city council’s permission. The upcoming rally of the ANC is interesting because it is the first rally after March 1, during which the Congress has presented to the government concrete demands and timelines. The ANC has submitted this to the government as an alternative of the PACE timeline, which was also handed to the Council of Europe office in Yerevan. Let us remember that the Congress demanded that the government should restore the activity of the independent body investigating the March 1 events, amend the law on the organization of rallies, demonstrations by April, hold a competition in order to enable the A1+ to compete for TV frequency and demanded that the government should hold by-elections from June to September. None of these demands has been fulfilled so far. Moreover, the PACE has welcomed the action plan and schedule presented by the government. It means that during the upcoming rally the ANC should be more clear and concrete about its further deeds or present another timeline directed against the reluctance of the conduct of the previous timeline.
