A number of newspapers published in the United States have circulated the certain announcements the former president of Karabakh, Arkadi Ghukasyan spoke during his visit to Los Angeles. Specifically, the USA Armenian Life Magazine writes that on November 3 the former president of NKR, Arkadi Ghukasyan had some meetings connected with the Armenia pan-Armenian foundation in Los-Angeles, during which he also expressed opinions about the protocols signed between Armenia and Turkey, as well as the opinion of the Diaspora concerning this issue. According to the USA Armenian Life Magazine, Arkadi Ghukasyan agrees with the fact that the protocols contain some weak, vulnerable provisions and shortcomings. He also said that he understood the complaints of the Diaspora as well. “The Armenian foreign minister Edward Nalbandyan is very weak and not ready for his work,” said Ghukasyan according to the USA Armenian Life Magazine. He also said that he understood that the dialogue with the Diaspora had taken place very late, which is wrong too. Furthermore, he said that he had expressed concerns to the Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan ten times more than the Diaspora. The USA Armenian Life Magazine writes that Arkadi Ghukasyan said that it is possible that even Serzh Sargsyan has made a mistake, but he is a patriot and honest person and bears much responsibility. In a word, Ghukasyan has made a lot of interesting announcements in the US. The mentioned information has not been refuted by Armenia’s foreign affairs ministry or any other institution so far. The problem is that besides being the former president of Karabakh, Arkadi Ghukasyan is also a special Ambassador on special issues. It means that Arkadi Ghukasyan, who bears the highest diplomatic title, has declared that the policy of incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan connected with the relations between Armenia and Turkey is wrong. This is very interesting due to several reasons. In consideration of the fact that Ghukasyan represents Serzh Sargsyan’s team, this fact shows that the governmental ice is cracking because of the difference in opinions related to the relations between Armenia and Turkey. On the other hand, if we take into account that there are rumors that Ghukasyan is former president Robert Kocharyan’s loyalist and his title of an Ambassador on special issues has a symbolic meaning, this announcement may show that the scenario of Kocharyan’s return to politics is being activated again.
