Ornithologist Martin Adamyan announced recently that we can probably see a massive elimination of birds in Armenia, something which is not paid much attention to. Nobody seems to care about the reasons for this. According to the ornithologist, there have been cases like this in Sevan and near the Arpa Lake. We asked Minister of Ecology of the Republic of Armenia Vartan Ayvazyan as to whether or not that information was true or not. “Who said that? There is no such thing. I go to Sevan three times a week and I have not seen any dead bird,” said V. Ayvazyan. In addition, Martin Adamyan stated that he fears that the reason for the massive elimination of birds is closely connected with the bird flu. By recalling the same events with the bird flu which took place in Iran, the Minister of Health of Armenia Norair Davidyan assured us that there is no cause for alarm in Armenia yet.
