Following the meeting of the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Prague the OSCE MG co-chairmen Youri Merzlyakov, Bernard Fasier and Matthew Bryza came up with an announcement. The announcement specifically reads: “On May 7, in the capital city of the Czech Republic, in the residence of the US Ambassador, the OSCE co-chairmen organized a meeting of Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev. The foreign ministers of the two countries were present at the meeting as well. This was the fourth meeting of the presidents during the past two years. The co-chairmen believe that every meeting is pushing the parties closer to settlement. From this point of view the meeting on May 7 shows that there was a significant development. The presidents approved the MG co-chairmen’s project targeted at future strengthening of the shuttle diplomacy for the purpose of mobilizing the important attributes for providing an improvement. The co-chairmen are impatiently looking forward to the next visit to the region and future meeting, which, as the co-chairmen were suggested, will take place in the beginning of June in Saint Petersburg. The MG co-chairmen hope that the future meetings will enable the parties have a specific improvement on the Main principles.” It is worth mentioning that the OSCE MG co-chairmen’s announcement concerning the meeting differs from the official opinion of the Armenian government concerning the same meeting. Specifically, the announcement published by the president’s office concerning the meeting in Prague writes that the meeting enabled the parties to make the opinions concerning several issues closer. There was no word about reaching specific success till the end of the year.
