Yesterday the head of the Heritage faction Armen Martirosyan and member of the Heritage Bureau Anahit Bakhshyan met with the NA chairman Hovik Abrahamyan in order to discuss the request letter of political detainees Sasoun Michaelyan, Myasnik Malkhasyan and Hakob Hakobyan. According to Bakhshyan the NA chairman told them that he had received the letter and was planning to discuss it with the Prosecutor General of Armenia Aghvan Hovsepyan. However, as the latter is not in Armenia the letter will be discussed next week. “Abrahamyan said that he had assigned the Legal Department of the NA and law-enforcers to examine the letter. As I understood there is no need to convene an extraordinary session,” Bakhshyan told our reporter. Reminder: Several days ago the mentioned arrested MPs applied to the NA to convene an extraordinary session to restore their immunity as NA deputies. They have brought up the fact that according to the amended criminal code they cannot stay under custody and all the accusations should be recalled as there is nothing criminal in their past actions. Let’s mention that in their previous letter the three arrested MPs added the request from the name of Khachatur Sukiasyan as well.
