He was left alone

Yesterday the court litigation of the case of seven entered a new phase. Political prisoner Grigor Voskerchyan, whose state of health drastically deteriorated in the previous court hearing, petitioned a doctor’s aid. But the Judge in the case, Mnatsakan Martirosyan (Matso) ignored the defendant’s complaints and didn’t even give him a chance to explain everything more accurately. Instead, he silenced Voskerchyan and continued the court hearing. Martirosyan noted that as usual the defendant had shown contempt of court and didn’t stop. “Is your misbehavior connected with your ill health or…?” asked Mnatsakan Martirosyan. Voskerchyan replied that he wouldn’t stand, anyway. This made Judge Martirosyan vehement and he decided to remove Voskerchyan from the hall for ten days as he had done with the other five defendants. Shortly afterwards lawyer Stepan Voskanyan motioned for a recess. He asked the Judge to invite doctors to examine his client. “If Voskerchyan felt well, he wouldn’t have been examined for an hour in prison today,” noted Voskanyan. The lawyer also said that his client had a right lung infarction but the Judge paid no attention to the fact and rejected all petitions. Not only did Martirosyan continue the court session without the political prisoners but he also set the next hearing on Monday. Thus, he is applying the scenario – “court trial without political detainees,” due to which the government had to conduct a hasty legislative revision. Reminder: Last week due to the drastic deterioration of political detainee Shant Harutyunyan’s health the case was cancelled by his part and all the other detainees were ousted from the court hall for a 10-day term. This term will be over on March 19 and so Martirosyan can hold at least 4 more court hearings without the presence of detainees. The best he can get is the unique presence of Koryun Piloyan and other plaintiffs.
