“My son was shot by a sniper shot”

10/03/2009 Lilit SEYRANYAN

Yesterday during the sitting of the NA ad hoc Committee looking into the events of March 1-2 Sargis Kloyan, the father of a March 1 victim Gor Kloyan, was also present. Sargis Kloyan wanted to personally participate in the session by assuring that he had secret and important information to share with the commission.

Kloyan, said that he was convinced that his son was killed deliberately and not accidentally by a sniper shot. Remind that Gor Kloyan died of internal bleeding after receiving a missile wound in the result of a misuse of a Cheryomukha 7 over-sized, gas powered special device. Doctors were unable to save Gor Kloyan. He died on the operating table after the explosion of the gas grenade which was meant to explode in the air and produce teargas. Yesterday he was telling that he knew what was happening in downtown Yerevan. He rushed there to save his son but wasn’t able to find him. He called his son on the mobile phone but instead a girl answered the phone by saying that Gor is in hospital #3. Even months ago Kloyan said that there was a great chance for saving the life of his son because despite the fact that the main artery was harmed he hadn’t lost consciousness for twenty minutes. When moved to hospital he himself mentioned his name. In past the father of the murdered told that the doctors of the hospital told him that there was a gas bullet in his son, which exploded during the surgery. And because of the gas the doctors had to move Gor to another room. Perhaps if that didn’t happen the doctors would be able to save him. Yesterday by not being able to hide his anger Kloyan was saying that the death expertise of his son read “fragment injury.” “I would get surprised by asking how can someone die because of a fragment. For that purpose I went to the morgue and wanted to find out who conducted my son’s autopsy and why they wrote fragment injury. The doctor told me to go to the criminal. Of course, I didn’t understand what it means,” told Kloyan. He was invited to the prosecutor’s office and there he found out that his son died because of Cheryomukha-7. According to him at the hospital hey showed him a huge 4-centimeter long and 2-centemeter wide bullet and mentioned that the bullet caused the death of my son. In Kloyan’s opinion if there was a military doctor in the hospital his son would be saved. “I didn’t hear from the doctors but others were saying that the fragment exploded in his stomach. I have this information not from reliable sources,” said Gor’s father by ensuring that at that time there were three more killed citizens in the hospital. He repeated several times that his son was killed deliberately by a sniper shot. According to him the collision started at 9 and Gor was shot at 9:05. The father said that Gor went to Myasnikyan’s statue to shoot extreme photos and he was shot at the beginning when they found out he was taking pictures. Sargis Kloyan said Gor used to shoot everything he saw and on March 1 Gor had a photo camera with him. Kloyan added that Gor had been fired point-blank which was confirmed by the members of the AGO group who visited them after the deadly events of March 1. “He used to have a habit to go to take extreme questions. If there was an accident Gor would be there. He perfectly knew what a weapon is. He was a courageous soldier. He wasn’t scared of anything,” said the father. The Committee members wondered what connection Gor Kloyan had with the demonstrators. “No connection,” followed the answer. Above all, one of Gor’s brothers-in-law is a policeman, the other works in the National Security Council. “Generally, all Gor’s acquaintances and friends are either policemen or businessmen. Gor was a member of the Prosperous Armenia Party. During the Presidential election of February 19 he worked at the Prosperous Armenia,” said the father. The Committee members also wondered with whom Gor had gone to Lusavorich Street on March 1, whether there were eye-witnesses to give evidence in the murder and the like. The head of the commission Samvel Nikoyan asked if his son went there alone. Kloyan said that maybe there were people but they may be scared to talk about that. “Everything is clear for me. We know the murderer; we have the victim, the venue and time of the murder. I just wonder why these sub-officers are not arrested. He was shot maximum from a distance of 25 meters. The foreign experts told me this in my own house. They told me it’s a gas pistol and if it’s shot from distance it won’t harm health. Go ahead, arrest these four policemen; show them the yellow coat of my son. Let the investigators demonstrate their professionalism,” said Kloyan. In the opinion of member of the ad hoc Naira Zohrabyan no policemen would ever confess that he killed Gor. As a response Aram Karapetyan, New Times Party chairman, responded, “Put them on a lie detector. What’s the problem?” Nikoyan suggested that Kloyan watch these scenes at home and find out if there are any familiar faces there. “If you see any people next to your son ask him to write an anonymous letter to us and help us figure out from which side the shots came from.” Kloyan said that he wouldn’t like to do anyone bad. “Let’s say I see someone familiar. How can I take this poor boy to the prosecutor’s office and build a huge story on him. I don’t want to harm anyone.” Only after Nikoyan’s insistence Kloyan promised to think about that. Sargis Kloyan said the questions had never occurred to him and promised to hold a private inquest. He only knows that a driver of some taxi service took Gor to Hospital N3. The Committee promised to find the taxi man for further inquiry.
