Waiting for sequester

07/03/2009

The panic started in the society due to the devaluation of the AMD several days ago continued yesterday as well. People are most interested in the factual and future increase of prices of certain goods in the stores. In certain marzes bread price also increased. There were rumors about increase of bread price in the capital city as well. Neither the citizens nor the government know what’s going to be next in the future. The government is currently busy with receiving foreign loans. And this is stipulated by the fact that as a result of the AMD devaluation the incomplete fulfillment of the state budget is noticed. According to certain information only 60 billion AMD was collected out of the expected 160 billion AMD planned for March 2009 by the state budget. Approximately 3 billion AMD should be collected for each day of March. At that during the past days only 300-350 million AMD (only 10%) was collected a day. And this means that the government in near future will have to cut the expenses of the budget or more accurately to say conduct sequester. In other words the government will in near future stand on the eve of insolvency. We all know what happens in such cases as defined by the law on insolvency.
