“It doesn’t happen often when the co-chairmen of the Minsk Group openly announce that the actions of one of the conflicting parties are preventing the peaceful negotiation process. It is an established fact that there is no alternative to the peaceful settlement of the conflict and such announcement was made in the Moscow resolution and Helsinki by the co-chair countries and foreign affairs ministers of the 56 PACE countries. They made two announcements, which highlights that there is no alternative to the peaceful settlement of the conflict,” said Armenian foreign affairs minister Edward Nalbandyan during a press conference with the Georgian foreign affairs minister Grigol Vashadze. He said the abovementioned when commenting on the co-chairmen’s announcement as of February 19, which reads that despite the two reports circulated by the Azeri representative in the UN on February 24 and 29 of 2008 the Minsk Group re-states one more time that the conflict resolution has no way to be settled through military actions. “When 56 countries say one thing, and the co-chairmen say the same thing too, and Azerbaijan says another thing, then Azerbaijan should explain to those countries which is the reason of its non-constructive policy,” said Edward Nalbandyan. “The co-chairmen say that the fair and long-term settlement factor is the exclusion of power application,” reads the statement.
