Yesterday the employees of the Copper-Molybdenum factory sent out an informative letter, which read that their last working day is March 9. The PR officer of the owner company of the factory GeoProMining Ruzanna Grigoryan informed that the number of the employees, who received informative letters, is being summed up and the exact number will be clarified only by the end of February. According to Radio Liberty the mayor of Agarak Mkhitar Zakaryan recently met with the management of the factory. According to him only 370 out of the current 1450 employees of the factory will remain their jobs. The mayor also presented the steps implemented by the government to support the factory and prolong the dismissal of the employees. “Our government has retrieved nearly 2 million USD paid as income tax on part of the factory. Due to this they were able to prolong the operation of the factory for the past two months.” Nevertheless the residents of Agarak consider the steps of the government insufficient. “They deiced in Yerevan whatever they find profitable for themselves,” said the employees gathered in the square of the town. Others complained about the owners of the factory, by claiming that the foreign managers of the GeoProMining don’t take care of the local staff.
