On paper

One year ago an agreement was signed between the Russian Alrosa company and the Armenian government regarding allotting quotas for diamond refinery. However, yesterday the president of the international association of Armenian jewelers Gagik Abrahamyan told us that that Alrosa is a mining company and in accordance with Russian legislation it cannot provide diamonds to the Armenian refinery companies. And it turns out that the agreement stayed just on paper. Abrahamyan said that his company DCA last year refined for three months imported from Russia but not by Alrosa. “Although due to the international crisis diamond refinery almost ceased in Armenia I hope that this year we will be able to import diamonds from Russia for refinery,” said Gagik Abrahamyan.
