Robert Faleta, director of Dino Gold Mining CJSC, informed Hetq news agency that if the economic environment gets worse their company may be closed. Concerning the expected recessions he said, “I can’t say what recessions there will be specifically. This fact is not connected with the agreement so much, it is mostly connected with the international financial crisis and prices of metals. It is also connected with the production capacities because if we work with the half potential, we will need the half of the staff.” At present 40% of the company’s employees are on mandatory vacation and the company does not export minerals. In November 2008 the company’s employees organized a strike, which was stopped after the ministry of energy and natural resources executed an agreement with the mentioned mining company to prolong the recessions for three months. This term ends on February 18.
