On November 10-14 the NA commission on cooperation between Armenia and Germany visited Germany. This visit, which was sponsored by the state budget, would not be in the focus of attention if new MP representing the Prosperous Armenia party Armen Melikyan was not there. The latter called a press conference upon returning to Armenia and proudly told how he had chilled on the representatives of the Friedrich Ebert and Friedrich Naumann foundations for the fact that the projects sponsored by them in Armenia are affecting the link between the society and government of Armenia. Furthermore, this MP, who is the owner of Malatia-Sebastia medical center, allegedly petitioned the representatives of the foundation to provide money for the purpose of supporting tolerance in Armenia and implement projects in the fields of healthcare and culture. The ideas of this MP concerning “protection of statehood and stability” are exhibited in the parliament as well. In fact Mr. Melikyan not only has not said such patriotic things to the representatives of the mentioned foundations, but did not say anything at all. As you see, the role of our parliament is becoming bigger not only in Armenia, but also overseas.
