According to president Serzh Sargsyan’s order the controller commission adjacent to the president’s office has supervised the mining plants in the administrative territory of Yerevan and adjacent areas, the extractions of which are mainly used as raw materials for construction and construction materials.
Yesterday there was a meeting at the president’s office to discuss the findings. Prime-minister Tigran Sargsyan, the head of the president’s administration Karen Karapetyan, the ministers of energy, natural resources and environmental protection, the mayor of Yerevan, the chief of the real estate cadastre committee and the head of the state incomes committee were present at this meeting as well. The president said that the committee would conduct revisions in different fields of the economy for the purpose of improving the taxation field and cutting down the economic shade. The head of the controller committee Hovhannes Hovsepyan presented the violations found as a result of supervision and said that those companies had hidden the real capacities of mine extractions, failed to pay the applicable taxes, and as a result sold the products and extractions in the black market. He also said that there were cases of illegal mine explorations and extractions or explorations in territories out of the prescribed and licensed areas.
The latter said that it had been a result of lack of control by the corresponding ministries and petitioned them to restrict the control and make the fields more transparent. The president instructed to undertake the necessary actions to return that money to the state budget.
