After the recent session of the PACE Monitoring committee and the discussions on Armenia’s fulfillment of the resolutions 1609 and 1620 it was expected that during the next session they would adopt a document or another draft resolution on Armenia. However during yesterday’s session they did not adopt any documents on Armenia and the head of the Armenian delegation Davit Harutyunyan says that definitely they will adopt such document during today’s session. It is not excluded that the reason why such draft resolution was delayed might be the Armenian president’s announcement on his intention to come up with a speech at the parliament. Rumors say that in his speech the president will grant amnesty to the political detainees. Certainly such decision may change the content of the mentioned document because even when the PACE had some positive attitudes to the government they did not change their opinion about the political detainees.
