“Before establishing any commission it would be better to develop diplomatic relations and open the borders. If it happens we can establish different commissions on separate issues,” said president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan concerning the Armenian-Turkish relations and possibility of establishing a commission of historians in his interview given to Miliet Turkish newspaper.
He says that the questions concerning recognizing the decisions of such commission are strange. “Because at least a group of historians and academicians will sit in a place and say something. For example, if I say that I agree with their decision. What if the next president comes and says that he doesn’t agree with it? In other words the decision of this commission cannot be binding. It can be only suggestions to the governments and decision makers,” he said. According to Turkish Daily News, in another interview Serzh Sargsyan said that Armenia does not have any territorial demands from Turkey.
