For the sake of the president of the republic, friendship with the famous oligarch, for the sake of deserving their cordial smile or for being specially noticed during some public event our well-known politicians, representatives of intelligentsia and all those, who have such opportunities, push each other in order to benefit from chance without signifying the negative impression, which they create. In a general meaning the public opinion is not a very serious value because it doesn’t affect the election results at all and is expressed in a very passive way. Perhaps the politicians feel a little discomfort when they show up to journalists by already knowing that they have negative opinion about them. However it is a short-term discomfort. Two days ago the secretary of the Security Council Artur Baghdasaryan invited the journalists to a press conference. He denied the assumption that the governmental pyramid is being ruined. This is so much expected by the opposition. Mr. Baghdasaryan substantiated his denial by the environment of hostility created by Levon Ter-Petrosyan. He mentioned that prior to the presidential elections he personally tasted that hostility and the consequences of black PR. And in general, the government system is strong as never and all the circles function in consent. And all occurs due to the great experience of President Serzh Sargsyan. However, this fact as judged by7 the words of Baghdasaryan is not the only asset of president Sargsyan. He is also a good friend. We may assume that the Sargsyan-Baghdasaryan friendship is very fresh and started quite recently after the February 19 presidential elections. But considering the fact of their not quite young age (in mature years romantic friendships rarely happen) it is impossible no to believe the allegations that their friendship stretches back to the establishment of the Legal State party. As of the black PR as claimed by Baghdasaryan it was real rough but whatever was said before the presidential elections about Baghdasaryan was confirmed and came true after the elections. Therefore, neither Baghdasaryan’s loyal friendship with Sargsyan nor his submitted position (the abbreviation of which sounds so vulgar) can save his reputation. But let us repeat that the negative public opinion doesn’t matter too much. And this is noticeable after Tigran Torosyan’s resignation. All his party mates didn’t spend any more time but to turn their faces away from Torosyan and they president as they never doubted that they wanted to see Hovik Abrahamyan in the position of the Parliament Speaker. They also mishear the pledge of taking thirty silvers. They construe Torosyan’s deflection from the party as an act of emotional break. But his decision was surprising for many of his party mates. But the problem is that according to the actual public opinion Tigran Torosyan wasn’t fired because of his human weakness and Abrahamyan is not a genius and benign person with great human values (it is impossible to exaggerate what doesn’t exist) and that he is going to increase the role of the NA. Perhaps the most concrete explanation to this appointment was given by an MP of the Heritage faction Vardan Khachatryan. According to him by doing that the party solved the issue of its identification. It means that all the negative features of Hovik Abrahamyan match with the features of most of the Republicans. As the politicians are ready to provide all kinds of services to the president of the country and the party leadership by sacrificing the greatest value – their reputation, they also expect appropriate remuneration for their services. Perhaps this is the reason why the majority of high ranks in Armenia are occupied by those, who have bad reputation in the society. In general, the importance of public opinion in our society is diminished to a dangerous level. Thus, of course public opinion is important for the NA MP, president of the Olympic Committee Gagik Tsarukyan. But the ones, who work for Tsarukyan (e.g. deliver envelopes for him), do care about Tsarukyan’s opinion about them and not what the public thinks about them. If you closely watched the Olympic Games in Beijing you may have noticed that despite the fact that the Armenian athletes were supposed to make efforts to raise the Armenian flag they were most focused whether Mr. Tsarukyan is satisfied by their performance. They were trying to catch his glance and see whether he smiles or not. It means that the athletes first of all grant their victory to Tsarukyan and only then to the people of Armenia.
