On September 5 the All-Armenian Catholicos Garegin the Second accepted a delegation of former political prisoners after having received a letter from them. They gave a list of the political prisoners and facts to the Catholicos to prove that the criminal proceedings against them had been illegal. The members of the delegation petitioned the Catholicos one more time to break the ice, make a speech and protect those who are in need. The Catholicos said that it was an attempt to recruit him in politics and he cannot do that because he is not a judge and he does not know who is right or wrong. He also said that the Church should protect the fair ones but not the ones who are in need. However, the Catholicos does not exclude the possibility that in some circumstances he may petition the authorities to release those people. The members of the delegation said that the Catholicos should not ask the guilty people to forgive the innocent ones.
