A number of Armenia, Turkish, Georgian and American organizations have made an announcement petitioning to open the Armenian-Turkish border at least for 10-15 days in consideration of the fact that as a result of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict the countries of South Caucasus have appeared in transport crisis. As result of the crisis, which due to the ongoing conflicts is driving to deadlock, the region has lost one of the main transportation routes. “We are strongly concerned of this fact. This situation and its results are threatening to deprive the people of the three countries of this region from their basic rights and hopes for peace, stability and development. This crisis should make us evaluate the situation objectively and initiate a new era of cooperation. There is an exclusive opportunity for the governments of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia to prove that they are good neighbors, who want to support stability and peace in the region. We are asking them to unite immediately and open the railway communication network of the region,” petitions the announcement.
