Yesterday the criminal court made a verdict to release Vardan Jhangiryan on signature not to leave the city. Vardan Jhangiryan, who is the brother of the former Deputy Prosecutor-General Gagik Jahangiryan was charged with violence against the policeman. The judge passed this decision proceeding from the bad state of health of Vardan Jhangiryan. This fact however wasn’t an obstacle for the law-enforcers to keep Vardan Jhangiryan imprisoned for there months. The expression of such “humanism” is connected with the requirements of the PACE resolution 1609. Investigators conducting the criminal case in connection with the mass disturbances of March 1-2 have dropped the charge of ‘illegal arms possession’ against former Deputy Prosecutor-General Gagik Jahangiryan, but added a graver charge of ‘usurpation of power’ to his indictment that also includes putting up resistance to law-enforcement officers.
