During a briefing with government members yesterday, Vice Minister of
Finance and Economy of the RA Pavel Safaryan contradicted the
announcement made by Azerbaijan, which states that the country’s
military budget will equal the budget of the Republic of Armenia. “We
also wish to provide the Ministry of Defense with the amount equivalent
to Azerbaijan’s state budget.” According to the 2006 state budget plan,
military expenses for the RA will increase by 13 billion drams and it
will form a total of $150 million dollars. In addition, the government
foresees spending an extra 270 billion drams on municipal
transportation next year. The government will take care of the expenses
for electric transportation. As for getting new trolleybuses, Armenia
still awaits the donation of trolleybuses from foreign cities.
