Does Kocharyan influence?

12/05/2008

“I can say the following. There is the head of state, there is the Constitution of Armenia about how the government is shaped, I would say that nobody, especially Robert Kocharyan, would allow himself to interfere with the appointment of the government and playing a role shouldn’t be considered interference,” two days ago stated President’s Advisor Garnik Isagulyan. Meanwhile the President of the Republic Party Aram Sargsyan is sure that the former President of Armenia still interferes and influences the activity of the current government. “In my opinion currently Armenia has an incomprehensible system of governance. Our country is governed by those 40 families, who own 80% of Armenia’s economy. The 40 families also include Kocharyan’s family. Therefore, he has influence on the governance of our country. It is impossible to keep it secret from the society and everyone knows what the mentioned family owns. In this regard the families, who have serious businesses, are the ones to decide who the Internal Affairs Minister or the Head of the National Security should be. This is an abnormal phenomenon,” told our newspaper Aram Sargsyan.
