Armenia among the dying states

“Armenia is currently in a deep crisis and under these circumstances we are trying to give estimation about the inner political tension. It is not possible because the government doesn’t undertake steps, which would actually take the country out of the crisis. Their activities are accepted as fact steps to cheat the people,” said a member of the Social Democratic Henchak Party Vahan Shirkhanyan during the discussion on the Social Factor in the Transition Period of Armenia. As evidence of his words he advised the discussion participants to visit villages and rural communities and ask them when was the last time they had seen a doctor or whether the salary or pension is enough to afford a doctor. “If we take people for just electorate and not people of our country and nation, give them promises from election to election then no major results may be attained,” said Shirkhanyan.

He added that the fact that the government is taking the people as just electorate causes the fact that for example in Gagarin village most part of the residents left the country, only a few old ladies remain in borderline villages and they bring men from the nearby village to organize a funeral. “In terms of demography we are in a disastrous state and we are among the dying states of the world,” said Shirkhanyan. Another participant of the discussion member of the New Times Party Hrachya Sargsyan that the social policy of the government of Armenia must target the men. “Unfortunately the policy, which the current government leads, cannot bring any fertile results and cannot relive the hard state of the majority of our population,” he said. To the replica of Vazgen Khachikyan, the head of the social security service of the RA government, Hrachya Sargsyan echoed the following way, “Let the government learn on its mistakes and let them be more educated. The Armenian people are not a lab for them. There is no moral norm to use the status of the statesmen for own good. It is not right to degrade the society so much. That’s why the science gets 0% of support and our current education level is miserable.
