Prime minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan has introduced Hasmik Poghosyan, the newly appointed culture minister of Armenia, to the staff of the culture ministry.
“We understand that this is the most difficult field, we have talented people, bright personalities, people who are loyal to the nation, and to the extent that they are bright they should be treated brightly so that each of them feels better,” said Tigran Sargsyan and added that president Serzh Sargsyan and he had met with over 300 representatives of the culture field and all they, despite their pro-government or pro-opposition attitudes, said that they’d like Hasmik Poghosyan to be appointed in the minister’s position. “We should refuse poor taste together; we shouldn’t duplicate the examples of other cultures. The reason is not that the duplicate may be worse than the original one. We should rely on our own culture, we should praise our culture, our national heritage should lie in the ground of our culture. People involved in culture have a lot to do and should stay on the scene,” said the PM and emphasized that there is not sufficient modern approach in our country. As an example he said that we don’t have programs aimed at advertising culture on TV and if we have a professional specific TV channel, it will help us to show our culture to the world and not to duplicate the others.
The PM has also introduced the new minister of education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan to the personnel of the ministry. “We should make revolutionary changes in our way of thinking, which is that education should be continuous. It is impossible to live in the modern world without continuous education. It should be first of all understood by the young people, thus they should study till the end of their lives. This should be the outcome of the reformations. Citizens should study till the end of their lives,” he said and added that the definition “continuous” is very mild and it would be better to define it as “lifelong.” According to Tigran Sargsyan, there are many university lecturers, who are not doing any scientific work besides teaching. He said that our society does not need such lecturers, even they are dangerous for the society and universities. “They are spoiling the process of education. We should create an environment, where such people will be excluded and recruit talented people,” he said. “Mr. Mkrtchyan and me have a dream; we are dreaming of having a pan-Armenian university. We should have a university, which will be famous in the entire world, where the best people will teach and they will not be only Armenians, but also world leading teachers, and the students will be connected to the world development,” the prime minister said.
