Yesterday it was the inauguration of the third president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, and representatives from 58 countries and 12 international organizations were invited to take part in the inauguration. “… This event is happening in one month after the tragic events, which is still in the memory of people. These events were very painful for all of us. Now I am petitioning everyone to think about the future, together look for and find the way to unity, the way to the future development of Armenia.” “A part of our society has endorsed another candidate, and now I am applying to those people. You have the right not to vote for me, but I don’t have the right not to be your president. We should not be separated, we should not create barriers between different groups of our society, ignore the concerns and pain of the others, we shouldn’t go out of the limits of mutual understanding. Even if there is a wall of misunderstanding between us, I am petitioning all of us, let’s collapse that wall,” Serzh Sargsyan said. The inauguration was followed by a military march and only Serzh Sargsyan participated in it. Yesterday, at that time (11 a.m.-3 p.m.) thousands of citizens were commemorating the victims of the March 1 events near the monument of Myasnikyan. They gathered near the monument to put flowers and light candles. The police was strictly controlling the situation, however there were no incidents there.
