“It’s been the fifth day since the unlicensed rallies and pickets are held in the Liberty Square thus violating the law on meetings, rallies and protests,” reads the statement of the City Council of Armenia made yesterday. The statement also reads that the current rallies cause the complaint of residents and harm the regular life of the city population. The rallies also make the crossroads, streets and avenues very difficult to pass and cross thus causing traffic problems. According to the City Council the rallies caused “anti-hygienic and anti-sanitary state in the Liberty Square. At nighttime even the rules of keeping the noise down are not followed and the peace of the nearby building residents is infringed thus causing the complaint of citizens. Thousands of Yerevan citizens apply to the City Council to express their discontent and anger about the disturbance. ” By considering the created situation impermissible the City Council of Yerevan requests the organizers of rallies to quit the unlicensed rallies, strike and pickets in order not to hinder the regular traffic of the city, cause disturbance to the Yerevan residents.
