Yesterday the RA Police board made a statement writing the following: “The chairman of Legal State party and presidential candidate Arthur Baghdasaryan announced during a rally in Yerevan on 03.02.2008 that some people have threatened to kill him. Following the mentioned statement the police tried to contact and meet with Arthur Baghdasaryan or his representatives to ask about the details and also take a written statement about the incident. However, this meeting has been delayed due to Arthur Baghdasaryan’s busy schedule and only after a written letter submitted by the police on 05.02.2008 Baghdasaryan met with policemen on February 7. During the meeting Arthur Baghdasaryan refused to give a written statement concerning the threat to kill him, however later he informed (and his party issued a written statement) that during a rally in Vanadzor some unknown people threatened to kill him. The second fact is that another person threatened to kill him during another rally in Yerevan. Baghdasaryan does not know any of those citizens. According to Arthur Baghdasaryan, during the rally there were three people on the roof of the business center building near the square and one of those people had something like a rifle cover in his hands. The third fact is that the candidate has received a letter from a US citizen warning that he might be killed. Baghdasaryan hasn’t shown this letter either. According to the fourth fact, someone has called Mher Shahgeldyan’s father and threatened them. The above mentioned facts have been analyzed and estimated and neither of them have real danger for Arthur Baghdasaryan’s life”.
