Yesterday during the rally of presidential candidate L. Ter-Petrosyan a group of young people had thrown stones, pieces of ice and concrete towards the speaker’s platform during the rally organized in the town of Artashat. Afterward the group attacked the deputy-head of the ex-President’s security service, inflicting a bodily damage on the upper part of his head. The latter was moved to hospital. Yesterday when speaking to the reporter of our newspaper the governor of Ararat Alik Sargsyan told that the residents of Artashat got angry when the first president started to say offensive things about Hovik Abrahamyan and others of Artashat descent. “They were even insulting the residents of Artashat by saying that if you are next to them then you must be crooks as well.” By the way, yesterday the police released a statement in connection with the incident. As reported by the Police, during the meeting with Mr. Ter-Petrosyan, he and his team members had shouted insults and compromising statements in the address of some officials. Three citizens participating in the rally demanded that the indecent and insulting expressions be over. In response to such demands, 4-5 young people, co-thinkers of the organizers of the event, pulled these people about, pushed them to the ground and inflicted bodily damages. The proponents of the aggrieved took relevant actions in response. Due to the operative mediation of the local government officials and the Police it was possible to pacify the tense situation and avoid undesirable consequences. The police department of Artashat filed a criminal case based on Clause 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code (violation of public order through cynicism).
