14/12/2007

Yesterday the President of Russia Vladimir Putin announced the name of his “successor”. Putin said that he would like the current deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitri Medvedev become his successor. Putin made this announcement during his meeting with the representatives of four pro-president parties. By judging from the status of democracy and the activities of the media in Russia experts and analysts have no doubt that Medvedev will surely be elected on March 2 2008. Moreover, they mention that this position would be occupied by anyone, whose name Putin would mention because the level of control and reputation of the latter is very high. The analysts believe that in the event of the victory of Medvedv Putin will always maintain his levers of power and can be elected President any time he wants to. As of the choice of Medvedev the politician has a reputation of more or less liberal actor and can be acceptable by the west. In fact, in case of being elected liberal Medvedev will continue leading the authoritarian system created by Putin. This means that the future president will be working for the incumbent president.
