Yesterday we asked the secretary of the Armenian liberal progressive party, political scientist Edward Antinyan whether the fact that the parliament has not approved Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s recommendations to the Electoral Code developed by “Rule of Law” party may affect the legitimacy of the presidential elections. “Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s supporters say that if he runs, he will win for 100%. Furthermore, recently I saw that this percentage has grown up to 1000% in an interview. Due to this reason we should not exaggerate the effect of finger inking or printing the ballots outside of our country on the elections. Anyway, if the adoption of that provision is really important to the first president, they would be better to support that process before, at the time when the “17” cooperation format proposed such document and sent it to the offices of foreign diplomats and international organizations in Armenia. Accordingly, through the constitutional amendments the authorities have approved all what they wanted, and later during the parliamentary elections of 2007 they strengthened their positions. However, now the situation is significantly different, and we should take this fact into consideration. As for the opinion that the more losers there are within the opposition, the more people they can collect from those dispersed crowds of people may hardly be successful since after collecting such army you should also be able to make them become winner”. The mentioned statement has been undersigned by the Armenian Intelligentsia Forum, NDA, NDU, TA, ANLP, APP, the Armenian Marxists’ Party, ACRU, the Armenian social-ecological party, “Republic”, “Human Rights 96”, “New Times”, Conservative and CRU parties. We will publish the entire text of political scientist E. Antinyan’s views and opinions in one of our future editions.
