Yesterday the Armenian President Robert Kocharyan, who was taking part in the ceremony of Northern Avenue opening, replied to several questions of the journalists. Kocharyan was asked to comment on the incident, which occurred to the leader of Narek Tkhruni students’ union of the Henchak Party, Narek Galstyan, who was attacked and beaten severely. “The government does not care for such scandals and their consequences. They soon will start writing letters to international organizations. People need opportunities, facts to denigrate the government. In the end it may turn out to have no political lining. I don’t know,” said Kocharyan. Robert Kocharyan said he had never heard of Narek Galstyan, he did not know about such an activist, and he doubts that the society knows Narek Galstyan. “The law enforcers were instructed to investigate,” he stated. Let’s remember that on November 12 Galstyan and Edward Makaryan were arrested by the police when they were trying to disseminate leaflets about the November 16 opposition rally. According to Galstyan the policemen warned him the following, “if you go out and give interviews to journalists you will be behind bars again. So behave yourselves well or we will kill you.”
