The Russian federal services for veterinary and vegetable control have prohibited the import of meat products from Armenia, as well is the import of such products from third countries through the territory of Armenia. This information was announced yesterday by a representative of the Russian agriculture control department. “This decision was made basing on our preliminary conclusion of laboratory works showing the existence of African plague with the Armenian pigs”, informed the mentioned department. “Besides that, there are limitation on import of vegetables from Armenia to Russia, as well as its import from third countries through Armenia’s territory, as well as the return of train containers from Armenia to Russia carrying grain, which have not been cleaned according to third category standards”, concluded the representative of the mentioned department.
To note, the Armenian officials have been refuting the existence of the virus and blamed the media in “causing much noise”. We believe that the situation would be better if they tried at least to stop the virus from being disseminated instead of blaming journalists.
