“The Gold Processing Company of Ararat (GPCA) hasn’t been sold yet,” said GPCA director, Vardan Vardanyan. “The transaction is not complete yet. GeoProMining has only given its consent on the sale of Vedanta Resources. The transaction will be conducted in 40-45 days only.” It’s been three months since the GPCA ceased its functioning. It’s been months since the company was involved in judicial processes with the Ministry of Nature Protection of RA. The minsirty has found out numerous violations in the factory and set great amount of fines and penalties to be paid by the company management. Besides that the company is due to pay about 10 million USD taxes. The owner of the GPCA is Canadian Sterlite Gold Company, which is part of the Vedanta Resources.
