It is established that foreign companies are exempt from paying income tax during the first two years of their foundation. Certainly, the purpose of such a policy is making Armenia attractive for foreign investors. Every year, the state statistics department registers growth of foreign investments. However, the reality is that most of the companies existing in Armenia established with “foreign capital” belong to domestic businessmen and in fact don’t represent foreign capital at all. Furthermore, most of the owners of such companies are NA deputies, who often make speeches in parliament about corruption and stress the need to struggle against it. Later, after finishing their speeches, they likely calculate the amount of losses the country has suffered as a result of their businesses. They calculate, and then admire their own skill and cunningness.
