Incident in Baku

03/07/2007

Yesterday’s press conference in Baku, organized for the Azerbaijani intelligentsia by the initiative of the Azerbaijani Ambassador, Polad Byulbyuloghli, started with a certain incident. The Azeri Press informed that during Byulbyuloghli’s speech, one of the members of the “Karabakh Liberation Organization” (KLO) said indecent words about one of the members of the delegation, as a result of which mutual insults were launched between him and the rector of the Slavonic University of Baku, Kamal Abdullah. In the aftermath, the police isolated the member of the KLO from the session hall. However, this argument was continued by the president of the KLO, Akif Naghi, who called them “traitors”. The police tried to calm them down, resulting in a state of confusion in the hall. Naghi also said insulting words about Byulbyuloghli, due to which he was arrested by the police.
