Russia’s Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Vasili Istratov, was recently called to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs and received a note of protest from official Baku. According to the APA agency, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov informed the Russian diplomat that on April 22, the RTR television station had broadcasted a video clip about Nagorno-Karabakh during the “Vesti” evening news broadcast in which, according to the Azerbaijani side, the interpretation of the historical belonging of the Autonomous Republic of Nakhijevan to Azerbaijan was incorrect. According to Azimov, “the clip fully contradicts the official position of the Russian Federation.” According to the message of the Russian Embassy of Azerbaijan, V. Istratov has assured them that he will inform the Russian side about the position of the Azerbaijani Foreign Affairs Ministry.
