Yesterday the U.S. Embassy to Armenia gave explanations concerning the statement about Armenia in the U.S. State Department statement on human rights. “RA foreign affairs minister Vardan Oskanyan has talked to Washington, to us and also clearly expressed his concerns about the content of the statement. We understand the concerns about the statement, but we can’t change the statement of 2006 that has already been published. The U.S. policy standing concerning the conflict of Karabakh does not change and is the same. The U.S. continue advocating the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and believe that the conflict of Karabakh shall be solved peacefully. As in the case of other conflicts, the core issue is human rights here too” reads the statement.
Despite the mentioned statement of the U.S. Embassy, yesterday president of Karabakh Arkadi Ghukasyan said that he believed Vardan Oskanyan since he had no reasons not to believe him. In fact, the statement of the Embassy is not a reason for him not to believe.
