Yesterday NKR president Arkadi Ghukasyan had a meeting with EU envoy in Southern Caucasus Peter Semnebi at the representation office of Karabakh in Armenia. During the meeting the president of Karabakh restated that it is impossible to reach a final agreement and settlement of the conflict without mutual trust and the participation of Karabakh in the process of negotiations. A. Ghukasyan said that the definitions of the recent U.S. State Department statement on human rights were not logical. He said that he thought it was a clear mistake and added that he had no reasons not to believe RA FA minister Vardan Oskanyan. Peter Semnebi said that EU was ready to support the peaceful settlement of the conflict, consensus between the parties and overcoming the consequences of the conflict. Semnebi said that due to the parliamentary elections of May 12 they did not expect any rapid changes in the negotiations since in the period of elections the negotiations will not be much active. According to Semnebi, following the elections the process of negotiations will be reactivated and the agreements reached between the presidents so far will be a good base for the future discussions.
