“The occasion of opening the gas pipeline is a historical change and opens new windows for developing the Iran-Armenia relationship” yesterday said RA president Kocharyan during a press conference following the official presentation of the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline. “Just after getting independence Armenia was faced with many big problems such as war, blockade and energetic crisis. Today those memories are passing away; indeed we don’t forget the good will of the Iranian people and their help. 15 years ago there was nothing at the border with Iran but several barbed wires, which marked the Soviet Union’s border with Iran. The fact is that the bridge where I met my colleague did not exist that time. As for this bridge, last year over 600.000 tons of goods have been transported due to this bridge”.
