Courage

It is time to remove the office of “Pastark” club from the existing location. The reason is not intimidation or discomfort, but something more important…

The reason is the person who offers $120k to anyone that would kill Ramil Safarov that killed Armenian army officer Gurgen Margaryan. For this purpose this man is ready both to lose his money and even to be punished by the court for a murder attempt.

This is the person who managed to appoint a meeting with the religious leader of Azerbaijan (Allah Shakiur Pashazadze) near the border for announcing a war against Armenians. Even more this person was brave enough to call Pashazadze a coward since he hadn’t come to meet him near the border while he waited there long. He has also “invited” the advocates of the ultra-nationalist criminals that killed Hrant Dink to meet him, but they did not come. This is the person that answered to Raffi Hovhannisyan’s questions instead of Robert Kocharyan and wandered the prices for gas the Russians were going to define before the head of “ARG” Karen Karapetyan would learn about it. This is the person that has read much; this is the head of the Armenian Liberal Party, Tigran Urikhanyan.

He says that he feels pity that people don’t read much and newspapers criticize him for reading many books and being aware of the international literature. He says this is the reason why most of the parliament members even don’t know who the greatest people are.

In order to have an “intellectual” parliament people should elect “intellectual” people like Tigran Urikhanyan. Tigran Urikhanyan and his party are going to participate in the parliamentary elections alone and are not going to collaborate with any political powers. They neither want to collaborate with the opposition. They discovered “the other side of the coin” several years ago when they said that the opposition is not able to lead the people and they have only ambitions, political and personal purposes. Tigran Urikhanyan thinks that the only competent power within the opposition is the “Alternative” initiative.

In order to join with other powers they think they must have common views, some of which are peace, sustainability and development. He is ready to step back in favor of the mentioned goals. Furthermore, he thinks that the role of the Armenian Republican Party is very important in achieving those goals.

Notwithstanding, Tigran Urikhanyan does not imagine that their party may be elected in the parliament. If they don’t think they may appear in the parliament, we wander why they are here and why they are involved in politics generally. “We have stepped in and thus have to act” sincerely said Tigran Urikhanyan and added that places in the parliament would not give them money or something else that they don’t have. Thanks to God they have enough money to offer for killing Ramil Safarov.

Does this mean Urikhanyan is obliged to participate in the parliamentary elections? No, he wants to help people, he has something to say. He always has something to say when silence means more. He has many things to do and he must do that. This is the reason why they are participating in the elections. However, he assures that if in the same precincts where they are nominated anyone receives more votes than 50% of their votes they will drop their mandates. For instance, if in Precinct 9 he receives 1000 votes, he will drop his mandate if Mher Shahgeldyan, Napoleon Azizyan or Ararat Zurabyan receive more than 500 votes. This is done to make it sure that they are doing it because the society needs them. Why do they refuse their places in the parliament if they can help the society more being there too? During the discussion Tigran Urikhanyan said that they was very decisive in his intentions. He says they have surveyed people and founded out that 5 voters out of 100 ones advocate Tigran Urikhanyan, 2 out of them prefer the other powers and the other 93 voters are generally indifferent to elections. In a word, time will show everything. Tigran Urikhanyan believes that together with the existing development the institutions of elections will develop after the upcoming parliamentary elections too, but this development will not take place “due to the opposition”.

Now let’s turn back to the beginning of this article. Wouldn’t be it better to close the club where this discussion took place and make it a museum and write on the wall that “Tigran Urikhanyan was interviewed there. They could also write about the offers and other brave intentions of this person besides the part about reading books since Robert Kocharyan does not read books that much any more.
