Some politicians believe that the leader of “Dashink” party, Samvel Babayan either imitates to be opposition or is opposition for a governmental representative only, i.e. for Serzh Sargsyan. Yesterday a journalist told about this to member of the “Dashink” party board Andranik Tevanyan.
“We don’t think there are different and separate governmental branches. All what you said looks like a conversation in a market. They have clearly said that there isn’t any problem like that. Indeed newspapers read that there are certain problems. They think that it will be easier for them to pass the road if two dogs quarrel with each other. There isn’t any problem like that. Our party has prepared its program basing on its strategy. We don’t think that the governmental powers may enter into conflicts and we may benefit from that. No, it is not true”, said Andranik Tevanyan. Despite most of the politicians that escape to discuss the conflicts inside the UCR, Mr. Tevanyan took the risk to estimate who is really governmental and who is oppositional inside the UCR. Firstly, Mr. Tevanyan said that the conflicts inside the UCR were their inner problems and Samvel Babayan wanted them to solve their problems mutually. “We are concerned of the conflict inside the UCR since we have good relations both with Hrant Khachatryan and Haik Babukhanyan” said Andranik Tevanyan and added that Hrant Khachatryan and Haik Babukhanyan had applied to their party to help them solve their problems, but they could not help them and told them that they would agree with any solutions they could find inside their party. Later, the representative of “Dashink” party said that the incidents at the office of the UCR on February 8 were organized beforehand and said that they were happy that Hrant Khachatryan and his followers were stopped to enter the building. “In fact, the opposition gave a payback and it is good” said the representative of “Dashink” party, who did not want to interfere in inner conflicts of their partners.
Andranik Tevanyan said that their party had real opportunities to have many places in the parliament and noted that “Samvel Babayan said that they would reject their mandates if they did not have five percents and were not able to change anything”.
The most surprising thing that Mr. Tevanyan said was that their party had 41 candidates, who were going to participate in the elections under majoritarian system. This means that besides joining the opposition they are going to also nominate their own candidates and compete with the other oppositional powers. Notwithstanding, Mr. Tevanyan assured the vice versa and said that they were going to tell all the oppositional parties to agree with them before nominating candidates under majoritarian system and if they could prove that the other candidates were better, their party would agree with them and will call their candidates back.
Yesterday many oppositional parties discussed the mentioned statements, which seemed very funny to them. We tried to find out whether they were going to compare the candidates and then decide whether to nominate them or not, but they didn’t answer to our questions clearly. “Do they want to make us believe that they are oppositionist? Everyone knows why they asked Samvel Babayan to come to Yerevan. The reason Samvel Babayan is here is to nominate candidates in precincts to compete with the real opposition and imitate that they are opposition too” said one of the oppositional deputies, who did not want us write his name. We asked member of “Republic” party board Suren Surenyants whether they were going to compare their candidates with the candidates of the “Dashink” and then decide whether to nominate or not, to which he answered, “There is no problem to prove, but I think it is better to do the following way: we can firstly figure out the rules with the opposition and then decide whom to nominate in different precincts. I mean that if they want to collaborate with us they should not nominate and then try to make us sure that their candidate is better… As we haven’t discussed that issue with them I think they are free in their decisions”. Answering to a question whether it didn’t mean that the “Dashink” collaborated with the authorities Mr. Surenyants said, “I don’t want to speak such estimations, indeed one thing is clear: if they really wanted to propose that model they’d better discuss it with the other oppositional parties first and then announce about it”.
