With the order of President Robert Kocharyan, General/Major Seyran Saroyan was removed from the post of the 4th military corpus commander of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia. It is worth mentioning that Saroyan was removed based on his application and the reason for quitting had to do with the upcoming National Assembly elections. According to sources, Saroyan is going to participate in the majority electoral system during the upcoming elections and quite possibly, he will put up his candidacy either in the Gegharkunik or Armavir region. Recently, Deputy Defense Minister Arthur Aghabekyan applied to Minister Serge Sargsyan, asking him to mediate the president to free him of the duties of deputy defense minister. Arthur Aghabekyan is also planning on participating in the National Assembly elections, however in the Dashnaktsutiun’s proportional electoral system.
