Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan had this to say in response to Deputy Armen Ashotyan’s question regarding the possibility of Armenia joining the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline:
“The diversification of energetic resources is one of our most important issues. We are currently dealing with that issue and will try to take advantage of all opportunities, including the Trans-Caspian.”
According to the minister, Azerbaijan was surprised at how Armenia can be included in such a program without Azerbaijan.
“The Trans-Caspian pipeline will not only include the gas from Azerbaijan, but also the gas from Central Asia. Armenia may have the chance to take advantage of that opportunity with the signing of bilateral and multilateral contracts. At this point, we have the Russian gas pipeline, soon we will have the Iranian pipeline and if possible, we must search for other sources,” said Oskanyan.
